This was originally a spoof on the teen scene in the late 1950's, done as an ensemble piece. It is innocent and edgy, explores teen issues, including the need to be alike, with the girls in "Pink Ladies" jackets and the boys in black "Greaser" Jackets. We have adapted both styles from the originals. Our costume styles are close to authentic 1959 clothing, rather than the recent adaptations seen in the most recent revival and the television reality show that led to the selection of the 2 principals. The adults in this show can be characterizations of teen's perception of stereotypical adults - Miss Lunch can be cast as an old maid or nerdy bachelor. The Beauty School Dropout number is an opportunity for fantasy or silliness, and our Teen Angel is a white idol with an ultra-extreme Elvis-style pompadour wig available in either black or white.
