Our Egyptian costumes are based on what we know of clothing worn in ancient Egypt, and reflect their opulence for the royalty, and the soft, look of naturally dyed, loose garments of the slaves.
We chose to place the style of the fashion show in the pop rock period, using flesh colored fabric to indicate cutouts in the garment without being revealing, and making them very easy in and out changes.
The MANTLE OF RESPONSIBILITY is our own creation, based on the Broadway original, and is a lightweight patchwork "mantle" flowing from a pillbox headpiece worn by Aida. The mantle extends 12' from the back of the head, and is 22' wide at its widest point. There are 5 hand loops around the edges, so the slaves can carry it suspended above the ground.
